"Fewer clients, less money" was the bottom line philosophy for Jerry MaGuire in the movie by the same name. The movie begins with MaGuire, a fast living successful agent for athletes, going from a poignant encounter with an injured client to a meeting with the large firm he represents. He collapses in his hotel room for the night -- tired and reflective. MaGuire begins thinking about his life and his profession, struggling to make sense of it. He writes a mission statement. After twenty-five pages of philosophically purposeful prose he distributes his tome to everyone in his office and, of course, gets fired for such heresy.
